October 15, 2020

Norfolk Southern, one of the largest U.S. freight railroads with 19,000 route miles and 25,000 employees, is moving forward in their transformation, with goals of significant simplification and innovation across the enterprise. Not only is this change difficult, but managing resource constraints, ensuring executive alignment, setting and maintaining internal expectations, all while managing the business during a pandemic together add considerable complexity.

We invite you to join this session to hear how Norfolk Southern is navigating change, enabling their people for it, and maximizing the value of their transformation investment

How will the pandemic impact digitalization of global transportation chains?

July 2, 2020

In this session, we will take a close look at how the pandemic is impacting global cargo transportation, in particular, the container shipping industry which is involved in 90 % of global trade. How are stakeholders adapting to the crisis and what changes will arise on a permanent basis?

More fundamental changes in container shipping typically happen over extended timeframes. As an example, the industry has spent the past 20 years gradually consolidating itself and it is only now in the current crisis that they are able to leverage the newfound strength from the achieved consolidation.

The pandemic is now serving to accelerate this development partly because it serves as a strong viability test for the hundreds of different digital tools still in early stages. It is also in part because the crisis exposes the industry’s processes that remain mired in manual work processes and are in urgent need of digitalization.

We invite you to join this session to discuss with Lars and many other participants from all modes of transports how digitalization can not only help mitigate the current situation but also prepare the entire industry to change the game in the future.
